The village benefits from the renowned Stag public house and restaurant and is famous for its association with Mentmore Towers built 1850/5 by Sir Joseph Paxton for Baron Mayer Amschel de Rothschild. The former arts and craft estate lodges and cottages add to the ambience of the village. Access to the estate grounds is possible, part of which now forms the Mentmore golf and country club. The village is conveniently located for Aylesbury with its mainline railway station (Marylebone 55 minutes) or Tring, Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard with access to the Euston line. Milton Keynes to the North has a renowned shopping centre and the M1 and London Luton airport are within driving distance.
